Police Call Off Operation for Four-Year-Old Child Disappeared in Australian Remote Area
Australia's police have suspended the operation for a four-year-old who has been missing in the remote area for nearly several weeks, after renewed operations were unable to discover any evidence of the youngster.
Chronology of Events
The young boy was last seen enjoying himself near his home on a remote farmland close to Yunta, about 300km from Adelaide, on 27 September.
His grandparent briefly departed for about thirty minutes before checking on him, only to realize the youngster nowhere to be found, prompting one of the largest ground and aerial operations in local past.
Present Position
Law enforcement - who do not believe criminal activity - say they will carry on looking into, but that the matter has become a "recovery operation".
Recently, police for a short time reduced the hunt, only to restart it on recently alongside 80 defense staff.
"Official Grant Stevens said authorities were searching a broader zone based on updated analyses from survivability and search specialists, rather than any recent developments."
Operation Difficulties
On Friday, police confirmed that the new operation had not found any traces of the boy.
"The fact that the child is a little boy, the environment is particularly difficult, unforgiving and affected by changing weather conditions has made the operation challenging and more complex for those participating," police said in a release.
About 470 sq km - an area approximately two times the area of urban center - has now been scanned, and a specialized team established lately is anticipated to persist examining. Authorities have not discounted more searches of the property in the time ahead.

The boy, who has been characterized as an curious but reserved boy, was spotted clothed in a gray hat, pale gray long pants, shoes and a blue long-sleeved top displaying a bright character character.
The incident has provoked huge interest throughout the country, with photographs of the fair-haired, curly-headed child shown in publications and conjecture circulating extensively digitally.
It prompted officials to ask that citizens discontinue phoning them with their "speculations", and request for them to access information from reliable sources.
Relatives Response
Police earlier this week said the child's relatives remain "strong" despite the tragic circumstances.

Through a family representative, the relatives household has previously said they are "devastated" by the child's loss.
"This represents a trauma to our household and acquaintances, and we are having trouble to comprehend what has transpired," Bill Harbison said.
"Gus's absence is experienced in everyone, and we miss him exceeding language can convey."
