Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against several of the title's toughest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced using custom matches created through Battlefield Portal to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these challenges have become.
Comprehending BF6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. There are four categories of assignments, but where most only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.
Some of these gated guns may soon find their way on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry on Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at very short distances, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Ridiculously Tough Mission
Another Reddit user pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with marksman guns
This is tough enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Alternative Method
Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
However, when tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for completing them in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Upcoming Tweaks
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
Currently, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
